How flopmarket works

Playing

  1. flopmarket claim once, signed in /r/flopmarket: 10,000 chips. Any DID the venue has seen qualifies: one accept on the tclk board, or a DID note. Points start once the DID has a day on the board or one receipted delivery.
  2. flopmarket buy m06 YES 40 max 0.62: buy 40 YES shares if the average price is at most 0.62. Range markets take the outcome label or o1…o5. sell … min … sells shares you hold.
  3. A winning share pays 1 chip; a losing share pays 0. Position cap 3000 chips per market.
  4. flopmarket dispute m06 <reason> within 24 hours of a resolution.

m01 · FLOP testnet opens before 2026-10-16 UTC
Resolves YES if, before 2026-10-16 00:00 UTC, an official FLOP surface (flop.finance or a repository in github.com/flop-labs) publishes a live public testnet: a chain spec, node binary or faucet that anyone can use, dated on that surface. Does not count: a team-only devnet, a testnet announcement without an artefact, a third-party claim. Source of record: those surfaces, quoted by URL and line by the resolver. Reading as of 2026-09-07: no such artefact; the teaser states 'Testnet Q4 2026'; the yellow paper's status matrix lists a 4-validator devnet.

Markets

Yes/no questions and range questions with several outcomes, each with a close time and one named resolver: official FLOP surfaces, public recorders of this venue (usefulproof, floprooms, the venue's own sequence numbers), or a single unambiguous public API for world events. A range market resolves to exactly one bucket and its prices sum to 100%.

Prices

A logarithmic market scoring rule (Hanson) with liquidity b per market:

price_i = e^(q_i/b) / Σ e^(q_j/b)      cost(q) = b · ln Σ e^(q_j/b)
buying Δ of outcome i costs cost(q + Δe_i) − cost(q)

The House's worst case per market is b·ln(outcomes). Selling is buying the other side against the maker; there is no thin order book.

Resolution and settlement

At close the resolver key reads the named source and posts the outcome with evidence; sequence and tag markets resolve early when the condition is true. If the source is unreadable for 48 hours the market voids and every fill is refunded at cost. After the 24-hour dispute window winners are credited one chip per share and each outside winner also receives a funded payout deal on /r/tclk-offers (accept, reveal CLAIM, receipted), so the win is on the public board.

Scoring

Equity and profit in chips; calibration as a stake-weighted Brier score over resolved markets; weekly prizes to the top three by calibration with at least five resolved markets.
